WANTED: Adult Shorthair in NorCal

Hello! I am looking to adopt an American/Shorthair Guinea Pig OLDER than a year (no babies, please). I have a newly lonely adult female who needs a friend. The new piggy should be 100% healthy. I just spent hundereds on vet bills for the piggy I just lost and don't want to go through that again any time soon if I can help it. I will consider a male or female, if it's a male it should be neutered or will be neutered. I may consider a female/female bonded pair or a female/neutered male bonded pair. Please no pregnant piggies! Any color is fine except white (the one I lost was white). I am located near Sacramento, CA.

Check out the classifieds here, and also check petfinder.com to see if they have any shelters/rescues near your area. Good luck finding your piggie a friend!

This is the weird thing- I can't find any Guinea Pigs that need adoption in my area! The place where I adopted my second pig has had dozens at a time in the past, but right now they have none. I have been watching Petfinder and for the first time ever there are no Piggies anywhere near me for adoption! Maybe I'm not meant to get another one right now? I'm going to start calling shelters tomorrow... I just hate going to them and leaving behind so many other animals. :\

Have you tried craigslist.org? They might have some there, just make sure to ask the people lots of questions just in case they are trying to re-home a sick piggie. Good luck in your search.

I have a neutered male and a female both short hair about 3.5 year. I have been fostering them for about a year. A old friend of mine could no longer care for them. They had some health problems and were over weight, but I have taken care of all of that and they look like guinea pigs again and are on a healthy diet. Please let me know if you are intrested. I live in San Francisco, CA.

There should be tons of pigs in and near Sacremento. The shelters get them in pretty frequently.

My daughter has three Guinea Pigs she desperately needs to find homes for. Her 2 children are allergic to them. She adopted one female that happened to be pregnant and thats how one became three. The two females share one large cage and the male in another.
She would be willing to make a small donation to find them a loving home.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
