Default Looking for a reputable breeder near Northwest Connecticut

We are looking for a female ridgeback cavy, but I really want to buy one from a breeder in the area, I just can't seem to locate one. If anybody knows of one please let me know. I have checked the listings on the ARBA website. Thanks

You aren't going to find any breeder listings here, nor should you. This is a rescue oriented site. Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die.

By the way, ridgeback is not even a breed. They are merely broken abbys so they aren't a breed standard. "Reputable" breeders wouldn't be creating them. Not that anyone needs to be breeding when we have a pet overpopulation problem.

I have one in my personal herd, and I fostered a few others. They all came from shelters.

Drop the attitude sweetie. You have joined a rescue oriented site. Sus is 100% correct in what she said. You will not find breeder listings here nor find help in locating a breeder. We will be happy to help you find guinea pigs in your area to adopt though.

Breeders and purchasing purposely bred animal of any kind adds to the animal overpopulation problem. 10 MILLION + animals are euthanized in the United States alone each year. They are killed simply because there aren't enough homes for them all. Do the animals, yourself and the entire world a favor and choose to adopt an animal instead of buying one from a petstore or breeder.

You can find the piggie that you want looking only in shelters and rescues. They have a lot of them. Not need to buy from whoever. Also, tell your friends, sometimes they know people who are looking for good homes for their piggies.

Before I adopted, I went to Petco to buy one. They had some info about adoption, so I looked in my local shelter instead, and I found my piggies. I thought the way to get a good pet was buying, I was wrong!
