Please consider calling your local shelters & rescues, also looking on petfinder. There are plenty of pigs who need good homes. Deb

This is a rescue oriented board. Please adopt a homeless guinea pig or two from an animal shelter or rescue and save a life in lieu of supporting breeding and contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.

Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die.

Use Petfinder.com: Adopt a pet and help an animal shelter rescue a puppy or kitten. small&furry pets. They have a lot of beauties in need for a good home, you can even find babies.

Why do people keep asking for breeder listings? Isn't rescue, rehome and adoption pretty big at the top of the website?

How is that rude? You didn't say that at the beginning. You may be able to find a private rehoming ad but it sounds like you have your hands full with 5 kids and 2 dogs. Guinea pigs aren't low maintenance and you'd have to take precautions for their safety with the dogs and the kids.

I'll recomend that you check Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig before considering adopting a GP. This is not a 1 year pet. They live 7-9 yrs, and they required a special care like vitamins and excersise, but if you are 100 % sure that your cats and dogs won't get to them, then you may find a person willing to give it to you in adoption.

What did you expect when you post about breeding on a rescue website? Its kind of like posting that you hate rat terriers on a rat terrier website. Of course they wont be very nice right away until you tell them your circumstances.

What were the reasons they wouldn't let you adopt? Only because of the other pets? or is there more to the story....My rescue always has a problem with people not wanting to make the right size cage. There are better alternatives than just going to a breeder though, like a private ad in the paper or craigslist. I hope you can find one that needs a home and you can provide for it as well as you provide for your other pets!! Good Luck
