Finding a TRUSTED rescue?
After the holidays, we will be adopting a second cavy to keep Chutt Chutt company! I finally talked hubby into it! YAY!
But, he said we should get a gift certificate from Petsmart for a pet store cavy. I went by tonight (most reluctantly) but there was a tiny baby there (4 weeks old MAYBE) who had a horrible itching problem. She had bitten and scratched herself bloody in several places and it broke my heart to see it. I mentioned it to several people, but no one seemed to care or DO anything. It was all I could do to NOT wish a case of head lice to each and every one of them.
I decided then and there. If I am going to find a friend for Chutt, I need to be talking to rescues. People who understand piggies and their unique personalities. Chutt is pretty dominant and to find her a friend that will most likely get along, I can't just go to the guinea pig mill and plunk down cash for just some pig.
Okay. I'm sold. I can sell it to hubby, too. But now the next issue. How do I find a piggy loving person who pays close attention to the orphans in their care? Who knows their medical issues and personalities well enough to help us find a lifelong pal for Chutt?
How do I go about finding the right rescue??
Help?
