overwhelmed

Hello everyone i am new to the world of guinea pigs and i am a little oberwhelmed. Like I read some articles that said if they are not on a certain schedule they will get stressed and that worries me becasue things like traveling and school will affect their schedule right? I am just kind of nervous I guess. I finally got my parents to agree with this and they are really worried me and my sister(she will be helping me with them) will just abandon our responsibilities. Is it really that hard to take care of them, because i have been doing some research that says they are easy if you know what your doing. And after all the research I have done i feel like i am ready.

They do need fresh food daily and spot cleaning their cage as needed. I don't think they need to be on a certain schedule. Have you looked over the care info at Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig ?

Guinea pigs are serious responsibilities for sure, but you will really impress your folks with your maturity when you show you can handle it. Recognizing the responsibility enough to feel overwhelmed is good - you are taking it seriously! Researching is also good, you are learning!

I told my girls two things: First, they are living creatures, not toys. Secondly, love means putting the creature's needs above our wants. We may feel like snuggling, but if they don't want to right now, you have to put aside your wants. That's maturity and showing love.

I think you'll do just fine!
