Default Cleaning up

Hi Fellow Cavvy Lovers,

Just a short note to ask about cleaning. I was told by my baby's previous owner to wash her with a spritzer bottle and some J & J baby shampoo while two others told me different things; one saying to use the guinea pig shampoo at pet store while other said just wash in sink with cat shampoo. Needless to say I'm rather confused. Although a long-haired calico cavy she isn't matted or anything, not dirty yet, but I know that soner or later I'll need to wash her.

So what's the scoop.

I would just was them in the sink and use a shampoo thats not to strong. Just make sure you rinse them well. Be careful when bathing the pig make sure the water is not to hot or to cold. And when you rinse them off , if your using the tap check the temp. before putting the pig under it.

Heres a pic of my Ziggy enjoying his bath.

AWWWW lookit the soggy pigger! He's being very good. I didn't realize he had such lovely coloring. And he's a big pig!

Tyronius, small animal or kitten shampoo would be best because it won't dry out her skin, just avoid anti-flea soap. You can also trim her long hair if it's getting matted.

Some guinea pigs never need to be bathed their whole lives. I've owned several long haired pigs and never needed to bathe them. Just keep the long hair around the rear trimmed, and move pigloos around so that the pig isn't always sitting in her own urine.
