It's pretty easy to rearrange things to make room for a 2 by 3. And they are pretty easy to put together. It won't take more than a few hours.

Fittzi and Summer, if your parents won't read the proof you give them will they agree to talk to someone from a rescue? Really, the moment we put Odie in the store-bought cage I knew it was too small. How do your parents justify leaving any pet in such small living quarters? If it's about money, time or space didn't they think of that BEFORE letting you have a pet? I admit we adopted our first without doing the research, but I made the committment to care for them and I am. We did all the wrong things in the beginning, but thanks to Froggy and the other rescues here our 3 girls are doing much better. It's just not acceptable to let you have a pet, be told the correct way to care for it, and still say "No."

Bottom line, as the parents, if they agreed to you getting the guinea pig they are responsible for it's care, including a larger cage.

Can't we just drop the subject? I'm not the only person in the world who has a store bought cage. And by the way, I was just kidding about dying Emo green, sheesh. I don't commit "animal abuse" as you had said.

There are guinea pig rescues here.

The Bunny Bunch Welcome to the Bunny Bunch S.P.C.R. and Cavy Haven Orange County Cavy Haven - Guinea Pig Rescue have chapters here. Plus the 14+ animal shelters in the area regularly get in guinea pigs. There are 6 LA County shelters and 5 LA City ones, plus the surrounding ones in Long Beach, Pasadena (both of which have guinea pigs right now). There are usually tons of guinea pigs on craigs list too.

Rabbit Rescue in Downey takes in guinea pigs as well.

Summer: Do you think asking a husband is easier than a Mom? Husbands and Moms know the budgets better than kids and is harder to ask the hubby to skip a dinner out with all the family, and instead get something for a GP. I do not think that if your Mom did allow you to get those costumes, won't approve to get suitable cage.
