Exclamation Baby Girl the baby boy!

So apparently, Baby Girl was missexed by the shelter AND my family. I did tons of research and matched a baby boy to Baby Girl... Now we might have two pregger guinea pigs!

I will recall the whole situation so it is as clear as possible.
We got Baby Girl June 19 and introduced then housed her with our other two girls, Precious and Goofball. A week later we seperated Precious for being way to mean and pushy (she had good reason, which is now clear to us all). After Precious being away from them for two weeks we reintroduced them, which couldn't have gone any better! Then the bullying started agian, only this time worse! They double teamed on poor Baby Girl. We seperated her and housed her in my moms room.

Then amazingly Precious developed buldge, OK so she got fatter, then it proceeding to the point when she walked there was too MUCH buldge. I did MORE research and found out she was prego! Now we believe they both are! Just to make sure, I made them comfy and stuck my hand under their bellies, and sure enough, there was babies kicking!

I looked that up which means they are due in one to two weeks tops! I'm very prepared and am picking up some alfalfa tomorrow.

There is one HUGE prob though... They are both over 1 year old! I'm afraid they won't make it or the babies! If anyone has success stories of a sow giving birth at the age of one, it would really help my stress level right now!

My mom told my gramma and my gramma called the shelter. They said that they would replace my babies if anything goes wrong! NO! I want them to pay the vet bill when we need C-sections! But, its not my choice. And my dearest mother said that its good that their even offering anything.

But I need some advice on how to help them through this. I have been talking to several "pro" guinea pig breeders but still I feel the need to be MORE prepared.

They litterly have at least 2 inches of fluffy things in their cage to make them as comfy as possible, and they have been recieving more floor time and more veggies. And less lap time, as not to harm the babies.

P.S. We didn't think Baby Girl would have fit him that well so his name is Nugget!

I wouldn't take advice from breeders.

Thank you, that helps alot. I don't think she's ever had a litter before. Is there any way to tell if she's had a litter before? We got her at 6 months old from a pet store.

Oh my gosh! The surprises in life...
You might want to talk to kittie, her sow got preggo, so she can probably help. Good Luck!
What are you going to do with Nugget? Are you going to keep him in a separate cage for his life, or what?
But hopefully (if all goes well) you will be able to keep some babies!

Oh, crap. That might explain why Precious had such a problem with him. When I was younger I bought a baby boy that I was sure was female, and put him in with my female. She left him with a scar he had the rest of his life, so we separated them, and figured out what was going on when he grew a little more.

At any rate, I hope all goes smoothly. Keep us all updated.

If the babies make it, are you going to keep any? I think that you should keep your favorite male to be with Nugget!

Yeah! I hope to keep all. When and if the babies survive I will try to keep at least one from each litter (preferably a boy and a girl), just to help other people who have sows over one that are pregnant, just to show them there is hope!

Right now Nugget is seperated and is always calling for his girlfriends... poor, poor, man. He, hopefully, will have a friend soon.

I have the alfalfa now and they are loving the extra veggies! I was wondering if it was okay to put a little orange juice(fresh from an orange) in one water bottle, they have two so if they don't drink that they have another. I bought oranges, introduced it, but they only licked it then waddled away.

Red bell peppers and carrots (limit amounts of both). Spinach.
