I Need Helkp! Guinea-Chilla?

my friends mother works at a shelter, and my friend, of course, goes there alot. theres an animal there who she says might be a hybrid. its part guina, part chinchilla. i wasnt sure if that was possible. is it?

im planning on adopting it, and since i've spent the last few months reserchign guinea pigs, i decided to spend the next few days stdying & writing down information on chinchillas too.


any ideas/suggestions/anything?

i havent seen it yet, but she knows ALOT about animals. i trust her and her mothers judgement, and if it indeed seems to be a half breed, i will take it to a vet and make sure.

correction: my friend is the only one that said it might be crossbred. im assuming her mother believes so too, but i really dont know. and my friend isnt a rodent specialist or anything, but she really seems to believe this isnt a full chinchilla. also, apparently people dont think guineas and chills can breed. is that right? could this be a cross between a chinchilla and something else?

No, it is not possible for guinea pigs and chinchillas to crossbreed. They are vastly different species who's genetics are too different for them to cross.

It might be a Degu, the distant cousins of guinea pigs.
