Default Mites??

Hello to all again! Thanks for all of the help you guys are sending me on getting Wilbur a buddy. Another question.....how long does it take for mites to be noticed? I have had Wilbur for a month now, and yesterday afternoon he started itching like crazy. He had previously not showed ANY signs or symptoms of mites. He has NOT been exposed to any other guinea pigs since I have had him. Could it have taken a month for them to start showing signs? The only 4 things that are different since yesterday morning are...
1. He had cilantro for the first time.
2. I changed his bedding....I used Aspen instead of the carefresh that I had been using( I did take that out last night and bought new carefresh)
3. I got him a new "cozy" bed from the pet store....I had accidentaly bought one that was too small about a week ago, so I just swaped them out...same material.
4. I put an airfreshner in the room.
His attitude is great, eating just fine, etc.
Any ideas?

Again...THANK YOU!

Sometimes guinea pigs can have mites and yet not exhibit symptoms until they are stressed. Treatment with ivermectin can't hurt, and certainly could help.

Yes, I would treat with ivermectin. Even if it isn't mites it won't hurt him to treat.
