Default Piggie toys

I am sorry I haven't posted much but been under the weather so to speak. Now I am feeling better and am trying to get caught up. But I have a question for all of you. I buy toy parts for my birds that use bird safe dyes and natural components for chewing. As some of you might remember these 2 are my first pigs. I am wondering since my girls like to chew if it would be okay to make toys for them just like I do for my birds? Any suggestions or input you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance Carol

If made from pig-safe woods it probably wouldn't be harmful, but they may or may not use them. A lot of people who buy wood blocks for their pigs find they just ignore them. If they have hay at all times their teeth should wear down naturally.

Have you tried giving them toilet paper tubes or hidey houses made from little boxes? Mine like both.

Oh they love the toilet paper tubes. I stuff hay in them. I have one of those balls for pigs that is made up a jute like material and they play with it for a while and then chew it to pieces. I do keep hay in with them all the time. Just trying to make chew/playtime more fun.

Mine use small stuffed toys(the type used for mini dogs) for toys in their cage. They also use small cat balls when they are on the floor (they sort of throw them up) the balls have bells in them so you have to watch them to make sure they don't chew out the bells.

Mine like the cat balls too. My daughter bought them some wooden chew toys shaped like carrots and I doubted they would touch them, but I routinely find them all gnawed up. We also do the hay in the tubes, and they love that!

I bought a stuffed animal for one of mine when she was quarantined, and now a second one, since Critter is quarantined with her abscess. They were at the grocery store marketed as dog toys. She likes to occasionally chew at them (but it doesn't punture the toy, so no harm to her) and she likes to cuddle with it in the pigloo.
