Nifty Clips from Staples
Since I knew Abby was pregnant when I got her, I went ahead and constructed the sides of the cage high enough to be safe for the new babies. With that in mind I went with binder clips to hold the fleece to the sides of the coroplast. I was hoping the excess fabric would be long enough to completely tuck underneath the coroplast floor, but the width of the fabric was barely enough to stretch across the cage.
So, I figured the binder clips would be out of reach therefore safe, but they were so bland. So businesslike in their plain, glossy black finish. I went to Staples last weekend to purchase a tape dispenser and a kiosk in their copy department caught my eye. They had it set up to where you can choose either a small or large container, fill it with your own assortment of "designer" paper clips and/or magnets and it costs a flat price. I went with the small container (which was only $5.99) and using my totally efficient packing skills I was able to cram twenty printed binder clips into the container and still snap the lid on.
Abby is quite pleased with her girly cage. Her "hooman slave" does her right.

Yes, Abby is quite the diva and she knows it. I'm really excited because once the babies are born I'm going to place an order for a few of the Cozy Cavy Sacks. I have my eye on the one with the skulls on the pink background and the one with cupcakes. And, of course, if there are boys some dinosaurs or baby animal prints are in order.

Oh thats awesome! I actually have those for school, a whole bin of them is upstairs sitting on my desk waiting to be used. I have a question for you though, where did you find such teeny tiny little sqaures for your cubes? They are really spiffy and would be nice to use for a play pen for Oscar since he thinks hes a spider pig and likes try to climb out of his current play pen.

Aw, how cute! I might look into getting some. The poops are always finding their ways through the grids and with these, it can hold up the fleece higher! Yay!

Re: Nifty Clips from Staples
I actually bought those grids at Target about five years ago when I adopted my boars. They were called Kids Grids and they don't make them anymore. I wish they did because once Abby has her babies and they're about three weeks old I will be placing the boars in a separate cage and I used all of my leftover Kids Grids for Abby's cage.
You can always check your local Craigslist. I did find a lady on my local Craigslist who had the standard 9x9 cubes in primary colors. She was selling forty panels with connectors for $20. I'm wishing now I had snagged them.

I think those grids would be great for any small animals. But Target has gotten cheaper... 4x4's are now selling, dispicable.

Re: Nifty Clips from Staples
I dont know if you sew or not, but if so making cuddle sacks and cuddle cups is pretty easy to do. Im a fairly novice sewer and managed to make a cute little cuddly cup on my very first try. Im going to make a few cuddle sacks for my baby in a day or so as soon as I wick his new fleece. If this is something youre interested in doing and need any help, let me know. I know of a great tutorial for making the cuddle cups. I have yet to find one for making the sacks but Im assuming I can figure that one out on my own--I could be wrong though haha.

Re: Nifty Clips from Staples
I'm interested in that tutorial. I want to make my pigs an actual house. The kitchen in one corner (food, water, hay, veggies plate) the living room (couple of cuddle cups and I'm searching for pigs sized couches, yes people do sell them), the bed room (huts) and the play room (bird toys, chewable things, and cat toys). None of these will be sectioned off.
Anyways, I'm getting some of those slips tomorrow but they will not be as stylish.

Re: Nifty Clips from Staples
Ly&Pigs composed this tutorial on guineapigcages and let me tell you it is AWESOME! Its super easy to follow and you really shouldnt have any trouble at all making a cuddle cup for your little one. I just have 1 tip, if youre using batting, try to find thick batting or double up on thinner batting. I used thin batting that was laying in my sewing bin and it worked but the cup is slightly floppy. Im going to make another one and just stuff it the old fashioned way to see how that works.
Heres the link for you:

Also, heres one for the Cozy sacks:

I think I might try to make my own piggy couch, hmm I wonder how much planning it would take to make a piggy couch sweing pattern
