Re: Help me.. please...
I'm really sorry that you've fallen on hard times Stryde. I know you must love both of your piggies, alot. This must be incredibly difficult for you to give up your babies.
When was the vet going to take the sick piggy, and lovingly put him to sleep? Something should be done fairly soon, as we don't want the little piggy to suffer any more.
All my best to you, and your family in the trying time.
Also, please let us know how things are going with both of your precious little ones.

I'm sorry. I just saw your last post.
It's hard times for most of us. If he is suffering without hope, it may be the best option.

Re: Help me.. please...
Here's what happened:
I called everywhere. I called a guinea pig rescue, I called the various humane societies and MSPCAs around here, I called about a dozen vets. The only single people that would help me was this vet about a half an hour from here. There was literally nothing he could do for him but put him down... so Nimbus was put to sleep at 3pm yesterday. May he rest well, the poor soul.
His survivor, Stardust, is being re-homed with my friend who's been looking into getting a guinea pig or two anyways, and has listened inventively on the real way to care for them -- she already even knew about C&C cages, and uses one for her rabbit. I'm giving her most of mine, but the chloroplast needs to be replaced. After a month or so with just Stardust she'll be getting him a cagemate.
I wish I'd been a better owner, or had found someone better to care for them while I was in the hospital. But it seems the era of guinea pigs is over in my life. Maybe when I'm out of college I'll try again, but for right now, this is how it must be. I know my friend will be a loving owner for Stardust.
I thank all of you for your help.
Edit: Ah, and I see I did post about the vet and wasn't mistaken. This is just a recap then of everything that's happened.

Re: Help me.. please...
It takes a good person to do the right thing for both of the piggies.
Little Nimbus, is no longer in any pain. And Stardust has a new begining!
It's incredibly difficult to let go of the ones that you love. I say "GOOD FOR YOU STRYDE!" You did a loving thing. I'm sorry for your loss. BIG HUGS!

Re: Help me.. please...
It does take alot of compassion to that. We know how much you loved those pigs.

Re: Help me.. please...
Oh, I am so sorry you had to lose him. I am sorry that you've had to make these painful and difficult decisions. I am also sorry you have been sick, and that everything has become so difficult for you and for so many people.
*sigh*
My heart goes out to you, to Nimbus, and to Stardust.

Re: Help me.. please...
That sounds somewhat similar to Michelangelo's story. I think he had URI and something wrong with his gut and then the petsitter broke his tooth and basically I came back from vacation to find him mostly gone. The best you can do is either find some way to get vet care, have him put down, or just keep him warm and be constantly feeding him mash or critical care.

Re: Help me.. please...
I see my post is too late. Poor Nimbus. It takes a great owner to do the right thing like that.
