Hi goatgirl, I am glad that your guinea is doing better.
I think that the way you came across was that money was the issue, otherwise why would your mom refuse to take her to the vets?
Anyway you had your reasons, and everyone here was harsh because they were worried about the guinea pigs welfare.
But if you are now sure she is fine (although I don't know if " just paralysed " sounds good to me?) then hopefully she will go on to have her babies and have a happy life. Good Luck and Best wishes Paula

Great. The only cure for toxemia is delivery, so now that she's had the babies, maybe she'll be okay. Or if a baby was pushing on a nerve, well, that problem's solved too. The fact that 3 of the babies died, and the ketone breath, though, makes me think it was toxemia.

Anyways, whatever it was, everything seems okay now with the mama?
How's the one baby, are you finding the info you need online to help it? I don't know what to do with baby guineas in distress, but I expect others here will help you with more info and links.
Best of luck.

The other baby died at 7:25 I thought he was getting better and then I went to go check on him and he had passed.

Poor sow and babies. Maybe if they had gotten vet care, they would have been okay.

Hi goatgirl, I'm sorry for your loss but realistically now that the babies are no longer an issue, the mum may still need a visit to the vets to make sure she is OK?
I am not an expert and hopefully everything will be fine.
She might need some attention I don't know if having stillborns affect guinea pigs with regards to shock, mastitis, dehydration etc? Hopefully those more knowledgeable than myself in this forum might be able to give some advice?
Once again what a shame for those poor little ones. sorry for your loss. Paula

I know everyone means well by telling GoatGirl they are sorry for her loss but In my opinion sympathy is not warranted.

The only sympathy is for the animals. Because GoatGirl and her parents would not seek vet care that they apparently could afford but just refused to get all of the babies are dead.

I don't know if this was a purposeful breeding or not. I certainly hope it wasn't. but if it was I hope you will not breed again EVER. You don't know what you are doing and if you are going to refuse animals medical care when they need it then you can expect more and more suffering and death.

Do not get any more animals until you are old enough and responsible enough to get them vet care when they need it.

You still need to get the mother to a vet. Paralysis and a 100% mortality rate is not normal and I'm pretty sure that the mother is still ill.

Yes, there's a very good chance she won't make it as well.

How terribly sad.
