Hi! I have a piggy that is about 9 months old, and she is really funny! I think she is a peruvian, but I am not 100% certain. She has long hair, but it isn't really flowing. She loves to run around and hop about. She is very brave too, always going up to my dogs, sniffing them and biting their feet, they avoid her! It is funny! I watch her closely though, to be sure the dogs don't get rough with her. The funny thing is though I thought she was a boy, so i named her Rodney, so now i call her rodwena or just rodney. The one thing about her though is she hates to be combed! I barely touch her and she makes a fuss squeeling and chattering and jumping/squiggling. It makes it hard to keep her coat in check, so i usually trim it. I will put a pick, if the computer lets me. Thats my info on my little pig

Welcome to the forum!

Unless you got your pig from a reputable rescue, I strongly urge you to get your pig treated for mites with Ivermectin.

Did you make a good cage for your pig? Guinea Pig Cages, Your Cavy At Home

Also, if you have one, she needs a friend.

Here's a great condensed primer on the basics of guinea pig care: Guinea Lynx :: Guinea Pig Care Guide

Would love to see a pic.
Welcome.

thanks for the info! I do not think my piggy has mites though, I have had her since she was a tiny thing, since May. Her fur doesn't feel sticky, or have a funny feel, and it isn't thining. Nor does she itch. I do want to get her a friend though... my mom said no that i already have too many pets to care for, but it isn't like another guinea pig is different from the one i have and it will need a whole diff. home setup. It will keep Rodney company when I am not around. I would love to adopt a pig, but there aren't any pigs right now that are up for adoption where I am, and I can't travel far to get one. I was thinking of just adopting one from a good pet store like bensons or petsmart. Their animals are usually good, although it would be good to adopt. Another female would make a good buddy right? Should it be a baby one to make the transition better? Thanks, oh i will try to get a pic up, if i can figure it out

Hello Meghan!

Your little pig will really benefit from the companionship of another female pig. A good place to look is petfinder. Just plug in "animal rescue New York" into a search engine to find an adoptable! There may be more close by than you think. Be very careful of going the petshop route--a lot of people don't reccomend them. Most of the time they don't treat their animals well and sometimes they get the sexes mixed up. Or you could end up with a pig that's already pregnant! Have you checked out the C&C cages? Tell your mom that one more guinea pig isn't much more trouble, and that you want to do the responsible thing. Good luck!
