It's best to ADOPT two at once. Pet store pigs are often missexed. If you're getting females they are likely to be pregnant.

Many rescues have pairs of already bonded pigs available for adoption.

Getting an already bonded pair would be best. You don't have to worry about the whole dominance thing and introducing. You just need a big enough cage and lots of love to go around!

There should not be a "probably". Guinea pigs are social animals and need to be kept in pairs to be happier. You owe it to your pets to keep them properly.

It's going to break your heart and your pocketbook when your guinea pig ends up sick in the end since they come from breeding mills in poor conditions. I'd read up on mites, URI, fungus and learn how to sex them as well as pregnancy since that's what most Petco buyers end up dealing with.

If you can only get one (and from a pet store), you shouldn't get any. They do best in pairs.

Even though you are a teen, your situation should not outweigh the needs of a prospective pet. If you cannot have the basic recommended conditions, maybe you should wait until you can. This site is for rescue/rehoming/shelter based piggies. Not to mention that the members are hardcore piggie parents-- this is the advice you are going to get. So not to break your heart-- but this is the advice you will get continually. Pets should not have to "settle" becasue we have to, they do not ask to come and live with us.
