Default Introducing Ms. Lillian!

This is Ms. Lillian, also known as Lily. She's around 10 months old and likes to run. She also likes eating celery, spinach, and cantaloupe. Lily likes to cuddle with people under their hair and bite on her cage instead of her chew sticks. Sadly, I can't even clip her nails yet (Since they're too long) because she goes crazy. Also I don't know if you need a special clipper so if someone could tell me, that'd be great.

She is very cute!

Her nails are too long and probably uncomfortable for her to walk. Cutting piggie nails is definatly a two person job. I use special clippers, don't know if you should use regular scissors.

Hello! Try reading this: Guinea Lynx :: Nail Clipping. You can use regular nail clippers, and you might want to have a friend hold her for you.

Hello........... Lilly is a cutie Yes sometimes clipping the nails can be a little tricky(for me anyways) It takes my daughter to hold our little guys firmly while I do the clipping. The more you do it the more relaxed you will be the next time. Its a little harder with Teddy, his nails are brown so I am extremely careful with him. Sparkys nails are white, so it is a lot easier to see the nerve in his nail. You'll get the hang of it, you can always let the vet show you once also.

Thank you everyone! My parents didn't think her nails needed to be clipped put when I shown them what could happen, my mom helped me clip them. It was hard because she would move her paw but I wrapped her in a towel and she was calm. I just finished clipping them and she purred so I think she's happy now.

I found that wrapping them in a towel works well.

Ms. Lillian is beautiful! She looks like a wonderfull little piggy .

I found a great trick for nail trimming that works very well with my piggies... if you have an old tennis racket, coax them onto it. As they sit on it, their nails will poke through the holes, and you can hold the racket up (or have someone else do it) while you trim the nails. If you do it near a nice bright light, you'll be able to see the quick much better as well.

Of course, be VERY careful to not let them jump off! It took a few times for mine to get used to it, but they'll set relatively still while I trim.

Also, if you have no one else to help hold the racket, try this: If you have a ceiling fan in the house, tie an old shoelace onto the two cables, forming a loop. You can then place the handle of the racket in the loop, and your other hand can stabilize the racket.

Of course, don't leave them on there for too long, as the mesh is not very comfortable on their feet.

Congratulations on your first cavy manicure/pedicure! That is one chore I dread immensely with my Abby. When she is nervous, she has a twitch and it makes it extremely difficult to trim her nails. It's like she has Tourettes or something. Add to the fact that many of her nails are black and very tiny. I finally tried just regular fingernail clippers last week and what a difference it made! I will never use commercial commercial pet clippers again (too much risk in injuring them I think). I always do my girls' nails immediately after their baths while they are wrapped up in a big towel, exposing one foot at a time so they can't fidget so much.

How adorable. She's got the same dutch-colored shorthair coat my Nimbus does.
