Re: Hi, im new :]
Oh, thank you Foggy, for that math! I was trying to measure my pigs cage and when I did the math it came to 1 sqaure foot, it was wrong! I'll measure it tonight, it is a very wierd shaped cage.

Re: Hi, im new :]
I just looked at the size of the small cage from that site and there are much bigger ones in the Petsmart near me.

Re: Hi, im new :]
I can guarantee you that Petsmart does not have any cages bigger than the ones at Guinea Pig Cages, Your Cavy At Home that you can make. Any why would you want to spend almost $100 or more on a cage smaller than one you can make for around $35?

Re: Hi, im new :]
Ditto foggy. I have yet to see a pet store cage the same size as a C&C 2 by 3 which is the bare min. I'd like to know which cage you are looking at and how you are doing the math?
The grids which make the C&C cages are 14 inches each, so it is significantly larger than actually 2 by 3 feet. If you are guestimating from the look of a pet store cage, it is smaller since you need to take into account the inner tray dimensions, not the outer.
Besides, pestmart supports breeding mills and does not sell quality feed.

Re: Hi, im new :]
C&C cages are absolutely the way to go, no question. Much more space, and more economical. They do require a bit of work to build, but you will be FAR happier in the end - and more importantly, so will your piggy!
As for food, the Oxbow Cavy Cuisine is my food of choice. Simply one of, if not THE, best available. Oxbow also has fantastic Western Timothy hay. I actually just found out Oxbow is located in Murdock, NE, which is only 25 miles from me (I live in Omaha), so I just made my first field trip to their facility to buy in bulk!! Woohoo!!
BTW - 50lb bags of Cavy Cuisine and 50lb boxes of Timoty Hay are HEAVY!!

Re: Hi, im new :]
Yes indeed! I have been wanting to do bulk for months and months, but the shipping was horrible. We just moved back to Omaha in April, and I just learned about Oxbow being here
