My baby Cutie died 6 yrs ago. But, yesterday I was talking with my sister and our old piggies came up and we were talking about Cutie, too. He was soo sweet! I miss him soo much! He would eat every thing you eat. He loved melons. He was a Amarican and was on the big side. We do know why he died. We didn't know that guinea pigs needed hay and he didn't like the wood blocks to chew. So his teeth got too long. And he couldn't eat. He was a only pig so me and him were really bonded. I was soo crushed when he died. It took me a year befor I could bring mysef to get onther piggie, Tommy. He was a awesome piggie! Every time I would go past his cage he would scream as if his heart was breaking because I wouldn't hold him that minute. He was soo cuddly and cute.
I miss you soo much my first little piggie! See you over the rainbow brige someday.
I know how you feel. Back in high school I got 2 in different times. I was wondering why they died so fast. It was my lack of knowledge , and the vet I took them did not know anything about GPs. He did not say of course or I would have look for another vet. He suggested Vitamins for the scurby. I learned latter, a salesman in a store for farm products told me that my hay was bad. It got a fungus type that poison them... I cried a lot!
I do not know the tanslation to English, but the type of hay is call "Cohitre" in spanish. Is what we give to rabits and piggies back home. They love it! I got some and plant it in my backyard, but it could get a tiny red spot (you can't see it easyly), sort of like a fungus, that is what poison the piggies. That is what I know. After that I think it twice, before give them something that doesn't come in a bag and specially made for pets...
