Default Storing Hay

I would like to buy kleenmamas hay. I have 2 adults and 2 young guinea pigs. How long would 35lbs last before it looses any nutritional value and how best to store it?

KM has info on her site, I believe, that talks about storage.

I think hay holds it's nutritional value at least a year. Email KM and ask her.

Yes, I think foggycreek's right. Just have to beware of mildew, I think. Will you post KM's answer here, after you email her? Thanks. Go ahead and order the 35 lbs, it'll last you a while, but it won't go bad.

I think as long as you keep it in an area where it won't come in contact with moisture it should be fine. We order the oxbow hay and we leave it in the box. The hay comes in a bag in the box so it's stores nicely.

On KM's website she recommends taking the hay out of the plastic bag to make sure air circulates. I haven't noticed moisture in any of the bags of oxbow I bought, but I took it out and put in a large paper bag. I still haven't received a response to my e-mail. I'm sure she is a very busy lady.

Oh, wait, I think she may be out of town! She has family over on my side of the mountains and often comes over here.
