Well, the conditions are very well kept and very large... maybe the mother was just stressed from her sick born. the lil guy keeps toppling over. So how did the pigs do that you rescued with non existance ears? do they need special care, perhaps a bandana like summers lil critter? =)
What do you consider large? Please measure the inside bottom of the cage. Is the male/father in the cage with her? Was he in there when the babies were born? Are there other pigs in with the mother and babies?
We need to know as much info as possible in order to try to figure out why/how this happened. It is quite likely the mother did chew the ears off or it could be a genetic defect. If it's the latter then there is probably much more going on with the baby that you can't see. That would explain why the mother is rejecting it. This baby, the mother and all of the sibling need to go and see a vet as soon as possible.
Hm, come to think of it, would a bandana work? I think JuBer was just kidding, but my guinea pig sized bandana fits just right on him, and might be a good ear replacement!
Gee Summer, I don't know maybe a bandanna would make a good ear replacement--and maybe a pencil eraser would make a good leg replacement if a gp is born without a leg.
Honestly, stop with the ridiculous posts. We are trying to help someone who has an animal with a serious medical concern. We are not trying to figure out how to fix her doll.
Well soooorry for trying to help. I know that a dog's ears help from bugs getting in their ear canal so I thought that maybe a bandana might protect him/her from that. And I do not treat my guinea pig as a doll.
