Sometimes cavies will bite things to try to keep their teeth filed down. Does he have 24/7 access to all the timothy hay he could possibly want?

Many guinea pigs bite and pull at clothes because they are nervous or scared. When you hold him, use a towel or a cuddlecup or something so he'll stop ruining your clothes.

It's possible he has mites--they make being touched very painful.

Thankyou for the advise. I dont think he has mites he has no other signs, he also loves to be stroked while he is in his cage. I will try the cuddle cup. thankyou

Is he young? Our girl Ruby would nibble and tug on my clothes, I started using a cuddle cup and she nibbles it now, but I noticed as she gets older she does this less.. I think using a towel or cozy may be your best bet.

Yes, he is about 3 months old. he has a fleece small dressing gown which I have been using for the last couple of days. once he has settled down on my lap he does nibble at it but he is not making holes in it. thankyou I will stick with it.

Good advice, we dont have a pig yet but our gerbils do this to my daughters shirts! It makes me soo mad! She has sooo many nice shirts with little holes in them like moths got to her closet! Very frustrating! I think I will have her hold a towel or something from now on, or a certain shirt everytime she holds them.

It seems to work, as soon as I picked up my Coco without having his fleece dressing gown there he was straight back to biting my jumper

spikey, Ruby was 3 months old when we got her too...I really do think it is an age thing, hopefully as he gets older he will do it less too... If the fleece gown is working I agree, stick with it. Good Luck.
