Default What do you put on a cut?

Hi,

My 2 1/2 year old Colby Jack has a small scratch/cut on his back and I was wondering what are you able to put on it so that it can heal I'm grateful for any advice and thank you in advance

I bet that he has mites. Sores, scrapes, cuts, hairless patches on a guinea pig often are signs of mites. Read about mites at www.guinealynx.info . You don't need a vet visit, you can treat them yourself. If you have any other guinea pigs, you will need to treat them, too.

As for what to put on the cut, it's best not to put anything on it. Guinea pigs can get sick from neosporin or other antibiotic ointments (when they lick it). Just make sure it stays clean, and watch for swelling (abscessing).

Thanks for the advice. I looked at the pictures and it didn't look like anything he had. His is more a dry patch that he scratched a little. It's where his hair parts naturally. I'll read up more on them though to make sure. Thanks!
