I have heard several stories where dogs rip the cages to pieces to get to the small animal inside, piggieluver.

I've heard of them rolling the cage around so that they die.

feluck, the answer to why your piggies died may never be known. The important thing now is your grief, and I want you to know I am truly sorry for your loss. At times like this it's easy for us to guilt ourselves, wondering what we did wrong. Unfortunately, without an expensive autopsy, you will probably never know. However, if you decide to adopt other piggies, at least you have the wonderful resources on here to help you ensure that your new friends get the best care you can give to them. In the meantime, I want to offer you my heartfelt sympathies at the loss of your cavy companions. Know that they are now playing at peace over Rainbow Bridge, and someday you will find them again.

I would not get any more, though, unless you can keep them inside.

How can a preditor get inside their cage?
Even if its a closed cage, guinea pigs get startled very easily due to the fact that they have tiny hearts. So, something like a bird swooping down at them can easily cause distress and panic.
