Very short-term list of bug fixes and features

At the moment, this isn't complete, but here's a start of the things on my list that I'm aware of that need fixing on the site so far.

In NO particular order:

(X) User profile display not working right. (Not fancy, but fixed, 10/4/06)

__ Main navigation (top menu), I'm still working on the formatting.

__ Secondary navigation ( second menu line), plan on changing the formatting and the content so it's a little more obvious and helpful.

__ Consistency on making sure a valid zip/postal code or map entry is entered on listings.

__ Add better instructions to the googlemap applications so it's easier to understand how to add a map entry and which one is appropriate when.

__ Add more editing on listings to allow for place entries on non-shelter listings. (I think, not sure yet.)

__ More work to do on formatting on main site. Not happy with styles on content yet.

__ AFTER main issues are cleared up, go back and figure out secondary hover menu on sub-categories. Not easy.

__ Default in rescue listing number on adoption listings for rescues and shelters.

__ Add vBSEO to forum--for search engine optimization.

__ Upgrade forum to 3.6.2 as soon as that version comes out--due soon.

__ Add automatic thread of listing to the forum.

X Test automatic posting of new articles to forum. (10/2/06, 11pm)

__ Document everything in FAQs and pages (starts with this list!)

__ Go back and document the gazillion modifications to the classifieds script so that I can upgrade when the next new stable release comes out.

__ Rethink the overall layout of the top section of the site.

__ Get the process of reading RSS feeds down to a science and document well so other sites can pick them up.

__ Work on getting banners created so people can have nice graphics to link to this site with.

__ Clean up some of the inconsistent formatting on the listings script.

__ Add status code to rescue profiles and display.

__ Add comment count to summary and detailed listings (doesn't matter too much right now).

__ Add documentation about the price of For Sale classified ads to the Sales Profile among other places.

__ Change where and how the website field is added/updated in the profiles.

__ Validate more necessary data elements from profile on listings.

__ Cleanup and better customize email messages.

__ Consider renaming "inquire" button to "email" or add one.

__ Add form fields to "inquire" email like the old rescue site had to help people screen potential adopters.

__ Consider adding a nav box on the left on the listings.

__ Reformat the single 'featured' listings to add more data to the right of the thumbnail.

__ Add "Welcome" hack to forum and figure out how to add that the listings as well, especially on product details when coming from an RSS feed link.

__ Think about a color background change somewhere to differentiate types of listings on summary listings and featured blocks.

__ Have to finish converting the cavyrescue.com listings over to this site.

__ Go back through a ton of old email and notify the rescues that have wanted to be listed on the rescue list.

__ Notify all the rescues on the cavyrescue and probably create some listings for them to verify.

__ Then add all the appropriate redirects from CavyRescue.com to this site.

Wow long list you got there! Anyhow Ive got some bugs I would like to report to you! I think it might be things affection macs only though. I cannot add an avatar all it says is no I dont want one theres no way to upload it or add a URL to it. And the quick reply thing wont work even if I click things like bold...

For quick reply, at the moment, you have to first hit the quick reply button on the far bottom right of the post you are replying to. It's a setting that I will change.

Okay its working now thanks! If you need help with making some graphics I can do that! And if you don't mind me adding a suggestion maybe you should add groups like Cavy Star and so on to here. For $20 you get more features and get 1 or 2 ads on in the classifieds.

Now I need to make a new avatar this current one puts me to sleep.

Good idea. Not so easy to implement, but I'll work on it.

Well, I'd like to replace the and

with something more fitting to the site and the logo. It MUST be the same size (20x20 pixels) and overall saturation/look. But, I'm very fussy.

Really it is? I have used IPB for my forums all my life and it was always a very easy to implement a those groups but sometimes required extra work to perfect and make it worth buying the group membership.

And I will give it a whirl for those things can I get somemore information on what you would like, since you state you are muy picky. And any images that are a must to use.

Yes, really it is. It has nothing to do with the forums. The listings (classifieds) are a completely and totally different script. NOTHING like the forums. AND I've had to heavily modify to do all the rescue stuff. So, not so easy. Believe me. Standard forum user groups and paying for them is a piece of cake, walk in the park.

Wow I totaly forgot that they are two different scripts. Owell if you do decide on adding it I will be willing to pay!
